Storm In Homa Bay As Nearea Okech Faces ‘Home Opposition’ In Her Quest To Emerge The Winner In Ms. President.

Published

on

Is it the proverbial case of prophets or prophetesses not being recognized in their home turfs or just another scenario where political interests have clashed and players have scores to settle?

That’s the question dominating the social forums of Homa Bay County, the home county to a leading Ms President contender, Mrs Nerea Amondi Okech who is a nominated MCA in the county as she now faces stiff opposition rumoured to be fanned by the County Woman MP, Hon. Gladys Wanga.

In recent days, online influencers allied to the Woman MP have come out strongly to support another contender, armed with branded posters and it hasn’t stopped at that.

There has also been launched, intensive scrutiny into Nereah’s campaign. Here is a sample,

TOP REASONS WHY NEREAH A OKECH MUST FALL
First, when the battle of titans between Governor Awiti and Hon Magwanga was raging in the high court of Homabay, the voice of Nerea was heard castigating Hon Magwanga and attacking his personal character. Qns: was she the only nominated MCA capable of attacking Hon. Magwanga in the press?

Secondly, when HBC assembly had its own wars and the Hon speaker was to be impeached, Nereas voice was heard insulting Madam Elizabeth See. Qns: was she the only female MCA desatisfied by Madam See’s approach to work at the assembly?

Thirdly, Nereas general comments on development of Homabay County has never been objective but rather full sycophancy, making her fall short of the citizens expectation of such leadership cadre. Her allegiance has been against the wishes of the masses who feel the pinch of ‘no development’.

Qns: who will vote for such a leader who keep on making one mistake after another but fails to be apologetic after realising her wrong decision? She thus remains a puppet for manipulation by the highest bidder. Quite unfortunate.
Consequently, NAOs main challenger Cde Rene Nyakerario Mayaka has intensified her campaigns nationwide couple with smart, convincing personality and great presentation skills. This makes her the only candidate to beat.

Observers say this is due to her staunch opposition to the Homa Bay Speaker, Hon. Elizabeth See, a close ally of W.R Gladys Wanga but other observers see this as a self-preservation move by the WR who fears an opposing female figure, such as would Mrs Nereah become should she emerge a winner.

Kenya’s MDF on the spot over its plan to stop the planned Census

Published

on

Kenya’s revolutionary Movement for Democratic Advancement (MDF) is on the spotlight after they issued a statement to stop the census process.

MDF Kenya today issued a statement, threatening to sue KNBS if they will not give the census jobs to several unemployed youths. In a statement released to the newsrooms by Executive chairperson Commissar Okung Ndege Serikal the revolutionary movement made it clear that all the jobs must be given to the struggling and unemployed youths.

“We want to categorically state that the advertised jobs by the KNBS are specifically meant for the unemployed Kenyan youths. Most of them are graduates who have remained unemployed for long and deserve these jobs! We want to ask government employees to kindly keep off and be generous enough to give struggling youths way.” Reads part of the statement

They condemned the government for not protecting the youths and not even securing jobs for thousands of graduates. In a presser released to newsrooms earlier today, the revolutionary movement have sworn to use legal methods and call for nationwide protest if the government will not listen to the voice of unemployed youths!

They also ridiculed the government for hoodwinking Youths and promising them jobs, while the jobs will only land in the hands of old folks who should be retired! President Kenyatta last week claimed that his main purpose is to care for the youths, a statement that has been met with different reactions from thousands of unemployed youths.

“The president declared the other day that his main purpose is to fight for the space of youths, how ridiculous? Where bare those jobs? You say so but in actual sense, you do the contrary.Appointing aging political rejects and loyalists in plum jobs is a clear show that you have no respect for the youth. In deed Mr President you are right! You have youth at heart by nominating Maina kamanda to represent us in Parliament, Margaret Kobia to be youth CS, Moody Awori etc. Thanks for that. In deed we are very grateful for that. Keep up.” MDF Executive Chair responded to the claims made by President.

Over the past many Kenyans have raised complains on the ongoing recruitment exercise. They have noted that several government employees are now trooping home to capture the jobs.

MDF now has threatened to call for mass action if the government will not give a listening ear to the large number of unemployed youths.

KNBS survey 2018 indicated that, in 2016, there were about 25 million Kenyans in the working-age bracket of between 15 and 64 years. Out of these, 78 per cent were economically active.

The survey further indicate that 3.7 million of the employed persons in the working age population were under employed, meaning they were available to work for more hours but were not given the opportunity.

Aisha Jumwa: Sifuna Should Now Pay His Rent Arrears After ODM Got ‘Easy’ Money.

Published

on

Malindi Member of Parliament Hon. Aisha Jumwa has called on the ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna to clear up his outstanding rent arrears especially now that the ODM party was awarded a cool Ksh. 4 billion by the Court of Appeal from the political parties funding.

Last week, the Court of Appeal awarded Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) KSh 4 billion from the political parties fund being an unpaid accumulated amount for last five years. A majority of the three-judge bench, Justices Otieno Odek and Daniel Musinga, ruled that Parliament should pay the money backdated to November 1, 2011 until the arrears are cleared. ODM had launched a case in the High Court arguing they had been receiving KSh 100 million from the National Assembly for over four years from 2011 to 2016 contrary to the figure set by law. The party moved to the Court of Appeal after the case was thrown out at the High Court by Judge Roslyne Aburili who ruled that she could not force the taxpayer to shoulder the arrears as ODM never demanded the money. Aburili said the fund set aside from the National Treasury is not a debt and thus cannot be paid if it was not allocated by the National Assembly but that is all in the past now, with ODM smiling all the way to the bank.

Following the ruling, several ODM top officials expressed their support of the ruling, noting that it is a sign of good things to come for the party with Secretary General Edwin Sifuna being most elated, and that seems to have caught Hon. Jumwa’s attention.

“Yule S.G wa chama ya waganga sasa yafaa alipe kodi ya nyumba. Hicho chama chao kimepata pesa nyingi kutoka kwa mahakama,” the vocal Mp had been overheard saying.

Whether Sifuna has rent issues remains a matter best left at the speculation stage but it is common knowledge that he and Hon. Jumwa aren’t the best of friends, especially at present. The Malindi lawmaker is fighting to keep her seat, with the party that sponsored her to parliament, ODM, through its Secretary General Edwin Sifuna determined to kick her out and last month, Hon. Jumwa grabbed the microphone from Sifuna at a burial in Malindi.

Mr. Sifuna hasn’t been successfully reached for comments.
